New facility aiming to open by 2026 in downtown Canton

CANTON--The National High School Football Hall of Fame is back for its 3rd Annual Induction Ceremony set for June 14 at the The Zimmermann Symphony Center-Umstattd Performing Arts Hall, located on the campus of Canton Mckinley Senior High School with a start time of 6 p.m.

The National High School Football Hall of Fame is dedicated to honoring the legacy of exceptional athletes, coaches, and contributors in high school football.

This year's class consists of 37 inductees including names such as Earl Campbell, Ray Lewis, Jim Thorpe, Richard Dent, Allen Iverson (football), Steve Atwater, Charlie Batch and Mike Vick just to name a few.


Ohio notables include Jim Thorpe (Canton Bulldogs), Percy Snow (Canton Mckinley), Luke Fickell (St. Francis DeSales), Troy Smith (Glenville), Mike Vrabel (Walsh Jesuit, Cuyahoga Falls), Antoine Winfield Sr. (Akron Garfield), Tom Cousineau (Lakewood St. Edward), Bob Sebo (Salem), Andre Smith (John F. Kennedy - Cleveland, Ohio), Virgil Walker 'coach' (East Tech High School).

Notable former Browns players on the list include Tim Couch, Hanford Dixon, Eric Metcalf, Frank Minnifield to name a few.

Location of Zimmermann Symphony Center & Umstattd Performing Arts Hall 2323 17th St. N.W., new facility located at 332 Second St. N.W.
