LOUISVILLE, Ohio--Louisville seems like the team to beat after a decisive win over state ranked Richmond Heights 64-62 in Louisville Play-by-Play.

Dubbed as 'The Program' came out strongly defensively creating problems for Richmond Heights early as they would not see any points on the scoreboard until Richmond Heights' Damaris Winters Jr. scored with 5:36 of the first quarter.

Beau Siegfried was on fire early hitting 3 three's in the first quarter setting the tone with solid team play and help from Brayden Gross and Tate Aljancic and a defensive master class from senior Ashton Marshall.

A defense that held Ohio State commit Dorian Jones to three first half points, "Basically all week we been just practicing getting up on closeouts not letting them blow by us or shoot over top of us," said Marshall.

Heights would get a hot hand from Joey Emory as he would score and chip away to stay close with Heights going on a 7-0 run to finish out the quarter trailing 19-15.

The second quarter Richmond Heights would slow down Louisville as they would open up the quarter pressing to cut the deficit by 17-19 with 6:53 left to go in the half eventually taking the lead 30-29 going into the half.

The second half would see Heights have a 34-32 lead with 5:35 in quarter but slowing lose that lead off the hot hand and aggressiveness of Brayden Gross as he would take multiple trips to the freethrow line and scoring 16 of his 22 points in the second half.

"My teammates picked me up big time and you know hit some big shots down the stretch and I think it was a big team win," said Gross.

Richmond Heights would continue to lose grip as they commit three straight turnovers with 1:40 left to go in the quarter that would create points for Louisville, as those runs would lead to a alley oop miss on a pass from Siegfried to Gross, sending Jones down alone with a power dunk with just under :30 seconds left in the quarter with Louisville leading 47-41.

A 3-2 trap by Richmond Heights would help as they began to close and pass the Leopards leading to a Jones made three point bucket foul with 5:06 left in game, things were going Richmond Heights way leading 59-58 with 2:00 minutes left in game.

But what would seal the deal for the ranked Leopards, was a big three pointer by Tate Aljancic to go up 63-62 with 26 seconds left in the game.

"First off I'll say this, It's the first time I took my coat off during a game so that tells you what type of game it was right away," said Head Coach Tom Siegfried after answering the question on how they were able to contain Dorian Jones.

Louisville moved to 12-4 on the season with a turn-a-round game versus Alliance, Richmond Heights fall to 8-8 on the season looking forward to a matchup against Akron Buchtel.
