MILLERSBURG, Ohio--Green had their hands full against Anthony Wayne in a battle of 12 win teams in the Classic in the Country Challenge falling 68-38.

Anthony Wayne took control early after a short tie and never let the gas off playing an all-around sound game, this team is as advertised, scoring the ball inside and out, 21 of their 68 points came from behind the 3 point line, with 38 coming from the paint.

Brooke and Elise Bender would combine for 21 points in the first half, Brooke more potent outside and Elise on the inside for the Villanova commits.

Green did not score first points until the 5:58 mark of the first quarter, with Slates not scoring until the 4:48 mark of the quarter.

The first half ended with Wayne leading 29-14 and Green only scoring four points in the second quarter and holding the Green's all-time leader in scoring and rebounding Jenna Slates to 4 total points.

Their length would pose an issue for Green as they would score 11 points off of turnovers.

"This year we got a little extra length um were a very lucky team to have length so we use that to our advantage to play high pressure and um get a good win," said Elise Bender.

The second half Green would come out a little more aggressive, as would Slates would turn it up scoring 16 of her 20 points of the game down the stretch, a good sign of her aggression was she shot 8 for 11 at the free throw line.

It still would not be enough as she would only get scores from four other players.

"Just to start off with a lot of energy we knew they were gonna come out especially the second half, have a lot of energy and pressure us but just to match that and go even beyond that was our goal and that's what we did," said Brooke Bender.

Toledo Anthony Wayne moves on to 13-2 and undefeated in their conference to play Mason, Green will fall to 12-2 on the season and still undefeated in the Federal League will try and bounce back versus Warren Howland.
