CANTON, Ohio--Almost ninety points put up in a shot clock game, that's what Elyria was able to do as they defeat Youngstown Cardinal Mooney 87-66 in the OHSBCA Shot Clock Shootout.

Elyria's shooting from behind the line would put the game out of reach going 14 for 25 in three point shots and 31 of 52 from the field.

In the early part of the game Mooney kept it close and ended the first quarter with a two point margin going into the second quarter, that is when the game took a drastic turn as Elyria would go on runs lead by senior Jayden Crutcher who would have 13 points in the half.

Outside shooting would help them to a 22 point 2nd quarter with senior Taylor Blanton knocking down 4 3-point shots in the half with the standout junior Kendyall Compton adding 9 points with a triple to add to the surge ending the half with a 9 point lead.

Rising football guy Dom Letlow would be a force for Mooney coming out the half as he with his 6'3 frame would score a ton of paint points and 8 of his 17 for the game in the second half, as Mooney wasn't as prolific from behind the arc.

It would not be enough as Elyria just managed to shoot the ball very well for the experienced team with five seniors rostered, adding 28 points for the quarter to Mooney's 20.

By the game's end Taylor Blanton had scored all of his points in 3-point territory hitting six 3's for the game, finishing with 18.

"I was just staying ready, locked and loaded and caught fire early," said Blanton. "I love it, I wish we could play with a shot clock all the time, it's fun." When asked about the use of a shot clock.

Elyria will move on to 6-2 on the season and will face crosstown rival Lorain coming into the new year slated for the Jan. 4, Cardinal Mooney will fall to 6-2 on the season and face Canfield on Dec. 30.
