CLEVELAND, OH- Long time Cleveland sports writer, author, sportscaster, and reporter Dan Coughlin, has passed away at the age of 86.

Dan started his career for the Cleveland Plain Dealer in 1964 as a sportswriter spending 18 years before moving on to WJW-TV 8 Cleveland in 1983 to the present, although he was in semi-retirement he would contribute to Fox-8 Friday Night Touchdown covering high school football.
His work gained him numerous awards and honors such as Ohio Sportswriter of the Year in 1976 according to NSMA. Enshrined in the Greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.

a proud inductee (2017) and board member for many years. A friend to everyone he met, we will miss his joyous storytelling, and larger than life personality. Deepest sympathy to his family.
He was a graduate of St. Edward High School after moving from the East side of Cleveland in the Collinwood neighborhood, and was an avid fan of the Eagles.
Coughlin was also a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served two years prior to using his journalism to show his creative mind to Cleveland, Dan will forever be etched in the Cleveland sports community.
