Erick J. Snell longtime local radio producer, engineer laid off by WHBC amid 'cost cutting' measures by parent company

CANTON, OH- News-Talk 1480 WHBC has laid off some employees due to what was reported as 'cost cutting' measures, Erick J. Snell a longtime radio producer, engineer was informed of his departure from the long standing radio station surprisingly and unknowingly according to his Facebook account.

Snell was producer for Jordan Miller who also was part of the roster cuts and its affiliate 94.1 the mix, Miller's radio show (Live and Local) was broadcast from 10am to noon weekdays, due to WHBC's parent company Alpha Media making cuts across the country the last several months they were the casualties. 

"This includes me as Jordan's producer," said Snell. "The second time I've been 'let go' and not being recognized for almost ten years of work," Snell also said according to his Facebook post.

Mr. Snell was more behind the scenes of the product, as the announcement of cuts hit social media, local publications, and because of the popularity and visibility of Jordan Miller many didn't know of Snell's talented work that helped propel the production of the show.

Pam Cook News Program Director for WHBC stated in a written response to the Canton Repository, "It was a really tough decision but something that had to be done due to the financial issues with Alpha Media."

Snell helped produce coverage of high school sports among other entities associated with the media company in their viewing and listening area, he also has worked for other news and radio outlets during his time with his talents.

Cook vehemently praised the work of the show and stated no more staff cuts were planned at this time.
