DAYTON, OH- Africentric held on to take the Div. III crown home by the score of 58-47 over Ottawa-glandorf, back to back for Coach Janicia Anderson and the Nubians.

The Nubians started off slow as they didn't score a bucket until the 4:39 mark of the first quarter, needing to settle in and adjust to the length of Ottawa-Glandorf as the first quarter rounded out they would lead 15-10 with five players scoring the ball.

Throughout the latter part of the first half both teams would struggle putting the ball into the basket as Ottawa-Glandorf would not score until the 4:15 mark of the second while the Nubians only scored 6 points total for the second quarter and 5 for Ottawa-Glandorf respectively. A testament to the pressure defense Africentric displayed but also they would have nine turnovers in the half.

By the second half Africentric was on a roll shooting over 50% from the field and cashing in at the free-throw line going 9 times and hitting 8 of them but turnovers remained a problem with 10 total for the half.

Samairah Thompson would be the go to down the stretch for the Nubians finishing the game with a high 12 points with help from Kamryn Grant with a game high 13 rebounds.

"When the very first possession didn't go our way we kinda just started rushing ourselves," said Coach Anderson when asked about the turnovers early in the game. "Relax and play our game and I knew eventually things would start going our way." she also said.

Kamryn Grant also put on a rebound clinic this game after not being able to play in last years championship game, "A blessing for me I wasn't able to play in last year with my team so just being able to come on top again with my team and be able to lead them," said Grant.

That would put the number of championships at 9 for the program with the addition of this one and back-to-back for Coach Anderson after only completing her 3rd year at the helm with a record of 72-11 not bad for 3 years at the small school that only has a total of 185 of adjusted enrollment.
