AKRON, OH- The Ellet girls basketball program has been making strides since Nick Harris and staff have been guiding them for the last 2 years from putting out quality players to winning Akron City Series Championships.

One particular player is junior Kent State commit Caitlyn Holmes who has dazzled in her time as an Orangemen, thus far in the season she is averaging 17.7 PPG and adding attributes of 4+ (rebounds per game) with 3+ (steals per game) while the team has a current record of 15-4 and coming off a huge win to clinch the 2024 Akron City Series Championship over Buchtel 55-41, scoring 27 points in that game.

On top of all the season stats and big wins thus far she has also captured the '23-24 Akron City Series Player of the Year honor, when asked about the award she said, "It means a lot to be able to be the player of the year for the city, I worked for it." said Holmes.

Holmes is a true leader of the sport but more importantly a mature leader of women that of those who play beside her game in and game out during an interview she expressed, "All my teammates impact the games in different ways, everyone has a role and doing good at your role and trying your hardest makes us successful and puts us in a good spot to reach our goals." replied Holmes. Very well put by the junior guard.

Asking about team chemistry Holmes emphasized that in detail by saying, "Team Chemistry has always been good on our team, we hangout with each other off and on the court and all get along very well, we are all like sisters." she said.

For now Holmes and her team will move forward to the last few games of the regular season and OHSAA tournament followed by one more season of high school basketball to hone and sharpen her skills, skills that are a must see.
