Marquise Davis and Sophia Sindelar Take Home Top Honors at the 24th Annual Cleveland Sports Awards Show Presented by Ancora and Medical Mutual

High schoolers showed class and honor during and after award ceremony

CLEVELAND OH- In a night filled with the best in class of multiple categories the winners left the stage with smiles and hardware, In the High School categories which consisted of male and female athlete who was most distinguished through athletic excellence during the past year or athletic season and is in good academic standing.

In the male category Cleveland Heights superb running back Marquise Davis edged out Villa Angela-St. Joseph high schools running back Bo Jackson and Richmond Heights basketball prospect Dorian Jones. Davis finished his junior year with 2,228 yards and 35 touchdowns who also made a huge impact on defense with 55 solo tackles, 11 assist, one sack and 3 interceptions.

Marquis had a lot to say on how he accomplishes so much in a rigorous season after playing 13 games and finishing runner up in the Ohio Mr. Football voting. When asked after winning the award Marquis had to say "It's my preparation before the game just run and do a lot of rehab making sure my body is at the highest level it can be." he explained.

In the female category Rocky River standout Soccer player Sophia Sindelar takes home the award for female athlete of the year after being named Athlete of the Year in Division II, Ms. Ohio Soccer, first team All-Ohio, conference Most Valuable Player and 2023 All-American. Sophia edged out the entire Brecksville-Broadview Heights gymnastics team and Tessa Knapp of Bay Village High School for her efforts in soccer.

When asked how this award matched up against her Ohio Ms. Soccer award she replied, "Regardless of all the awards I'm just super grateful to be nominated for any of them in general it's a reflection of not only my season but the whole team season."

Both award winners showed graciousness and honor upon receiving such a prestigious award.
